Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General, check Justine Kasule Lumumba has condemned the rampant acts of violence in Kagoma Constituency ahead of the Parliamentary by-elections.

Lumumba who pitched camp in the area to campaign for the NRM flag bearer Moses Walyomu was Sunday addressing worshipers at three different venues of Buwenge Catholic Church, St. Luke Anglican church and Apostles of Noah church.

The most recent incident of violence occurred on Friday evening when Jinja District FDC Chairman Abubaker Maganda was beaten up by a group of youths suspected to be supporters of Alex Brandon Kintu an independent candidate in the race.

Lumumba urged police and other security agencies to hurriedly fish out the suspects to answer their likely charges, calling for calm in the area.

She reechoed that each person had the right to support a candidate of their choice in a peaceful way, reminding parents of their natural responsibility of fostering discipline among their young ones.

“These are your own children engaged in causing violence. They will tomorrow turn the same weapons on you”, warned Lumumba.

She added, “It’s your responsibility to help them change character.”

In his sermon, Rev Canon Thomas Mwanda of Buwenge Anglican church who prayed for Lumumba encouraged the congregation to promote love among themselves.

“Those opposed to you will one time stand before you to apologise for their mistakes in Jesus name,” prophesied the Canon.
