Kagadi: Illegal Tree Fellers Netted

The National Forestry Authority (NFA) in conjunction with Kagadi Police have arrested seven people in illegal lumbering in Kangombe Forest Reserve in Kagadi district

Fredrick Atugonza, rx the NFA Supervisor Kagadi, tadalafil said the suspects were arrested on Thursday morning while cutting timber with motorized  saws   deep in the forest reserve.

He identified the arrested as Bosco Auzo 33, price Pascal Adriko 34, Fiddy Businge 20, Christopher Babyesiza 25, James Alinda 18, Ronald Akugizibwe 27 and Majidu Balyesima 20 all residents of Kyangwali in Hoima District.

In their defense however, the suspects said, they were hired by one John Turyatemba, a businessman in Kagadi town who is said to be run.

They said they were found near the forest and never knew it is part of the government forest reserve.

Atugonza explained that in the last three months of March, April and May, a total of 101 suspects have been arrested and some prosecuted in courts of law.

He cited most of the most encroached places the forest reserve as Kamukole, Nyamarembo and Bufundi all in Kangombe forest reserve in Kagadi district.
