Kagadi: Head Teacher Locked Outside Office Over Misconduct

Drama unfolded Monday Morning at Rutooma Government aided Primary School in Muhooro sub-county Kagadi District when the school head teacher reported at the school for the opening of first term but was denied entry to his office by school’s PTA Committee.

The standoff started the previous day during a church service at Rutooma Church of Uganda where Christians denounced the services of Head teacher Obadiah Turyomurugyendo and proposed the deputy Ruth Birungi Biira to take office as the acting school head teacher until the Ministry of Education appoints someone capable of managing the school.

In an interview with chairperson, about it the school Management Committee Denis Twinomugisha and the parents Teachers Association (PTA) member Hennery Mutungi said they had had enough of the head teacher’s inappropriate behavior.

They claim Mr Turyomurugyendo has been sleeping with some of the pupils, he is extremely tribalist and sectarian yet the school is under the C.O.U foundation.

The L.C III Muhooro sub-county Emmanuel Asaba on being asked to intervene, advised the head teacher to quit school premises to protect his life.

Mr, Turyomurugyendo was once a teacher at the same school and had just been re-transferred there on promotion.

In response however, Turyomurugyendo attributed the misunderstandings to individual issues related to land wrangles, insisting he is innocent.

By publication, Kagadi District Education Officer, the inspector of schools and chief administrative Officer (CAO) were organizing for a meeting with the school management committee to forge a way forward.
