Kadaga Lauds FOWODE for Women Mentorship

The Speaker of Parliament, order http://cprocom.com/portal/components/com_docman/includes/upload.http.html.php Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga has praised the Forum for Women and Democracy (FOWODE) for the great work done in mentoring and empowering women leaders since its inception in 1995.

She said that FOWODE spearheaded   the gender budget advocacy in Uganda and has consistently lobbied her office to influence legislation and ensure gender budgeting in the national budget.

“I am delighted to see what FOWODE has been doing, http://cyberstudio.biz/main/components/com_contact/models/rules/contactemail.php for it has managed to mentor several women leaders and empowered  many women  to boldly join leadership positions and have the willingness to contribute to Uganda’s  political a gender” she said.

Kadaga was Monday speaking at the commemoration ceremony of FOWODE’s 21 years of existence in the country.

The function was running under the theme “Women’s empowerment and shaping the future.”

Kadaga reechoed government’s commitment to address the challenges that women and girls continue to face.

“The government of Uganda recognizes the negative impacts of gender inequality in development and has demonstrated its commitment to achieving gender equality through adopting and implementing several national and international policies.”

“FOWODE spearheaded the enactment of the law against human trafficking , the domestic violence law,  the Female genital mutilation law and many more”

At the same occasion the speaker flagged off the launch of the  caravan which is organized by FOWODE to visit at least six Districts with Kabale first then Napak, Kiboko, Pallisa, Gulu, Mityana as  they preach the gospel of empowerment , the importance of participating in government activities ,business entrepreneurship skills ,and among others.

FOWODE was formed by women members of parliament in 1995 and since then they have had uninterrupted service to the people of Uganda.
