Leaders in Kabarole district have come out to attack the Resident District Commissioner Steven Asiimwe for arresting and undermining the integrity of teachers conducting remedial (holidays) studies.
Early last week, clinic http://coeurdepirate.com/wp-includes/class-wp-http-proxy.php the RDC together with police arrested teachers of Banyatereza Golden Jubilee primary school in Boma, http://contesta.fusolab.net/example.php Fort Portal municipality and Buheesi secondary in Buheesi Sub County and detained them after finding them teaching in holidays.
The RDC’s act has been protested by local leaders who say it is against the development of the district and violates the teachers’ integrity.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki of Fort Portal Diocese criticized the ‘inhuman’ acts of the RDC arresting and detaining teachers in candidate classes.
He says candidate classes need to teach and complete the syllabus because a lot of time was wasted in the February elections.
Bishop Muhiirwa warned that if the RDC can’t style up and continues with his conduct, he is ready to stage a protest in solidarity with teachers and get imprisoned with them at Katojo Prison.
He asked parents not to be misled by the RDC but send their children to study this holiday if they want to excel.
The Bishop was speaking to hundreds of Christians at Nyansozi Catholic Church in Mugusu Sub County.
Kabarole District Chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga also expressed disappointment noting that arresting committed teachers in the presence student dehumanizes and traumatizes them.
Rwabuhinga warned that if the RDC Continues with his acts, he will mobilize teachers to protest his decision.
He explained that this a clear indication that RDC is against the better standards of education in Kabarole but appealed to the parents to continue support their children so as to have a bright future.
