Kabarole Leaders Use AIDS Day To Condemn Rwenzori Attacks

Kabarole district leaders utilized the International AIDS Day commemorations to strongly condemn the acts of rebellion and the bloody attacks on Rwenzori region by Rwenzururu king Charles Wesley Mumbere.

He urged the agitators of the rebellion and the attackers still hiding in Mountain hideouts to surrender and government is ready to offer them amnesty.

The District Chairperson Kabarole Mr. Richard Rwabuhinga strongly condemned the insecurity being experienced in the Rwenzori region.

The district chairman dismissed claims that the attacks in Rwenzori districts of Kabarole and Kasese were tribal but said investigations reveal that the Rwenzururu King Wesley Mumbere and his people are fighting government.

He asked the people of Rwenzori involved in rebellious acts to denounce them, order come, work together and participate in income generating activities.

On Sunday last week, the Rwenzururu youth calling themselves “Kirumira Mutima”  and the royal guards clashed with the UPDF and police in Kasese at Mumberere’s palace and different government institutions leaving over 15 police officers, 55  royal guards and civilians dead and over 140 arrested and detained at Katojo government prison.
