State prosecution led by Major Raphael Mugisha said today they were ready with two witnesses, but defense counsel Fredrick SSemwanga told court that he had not received any permission from the missing person to proceed in his absence.
“It’s (his) constitutional right to be present in court during the case hearing and since he is not present, we seek a short adjournment,” said the lawyer.
Before making the adjournment, General court martial chairman Lt Gen Andrew Gutti tasked the court registrar Major John Bizimana to ensure that he issues criminal summons to Murchison Bay Prisons Authority so that they produce the accused person in court during the next court sitting.
Further hearing of the matter has been adjourned to 9th January 2017.
