The Catholic Church in Kabale diocese is mourning the passing of Rev. Fr. Lazarus Kabasharira the former Kabale diocese Episcopal Vicar.
Fr. Kabasharira passed on Thursday evening at Nsambya Hospital where he has been battling a host of ailments.
He was among the oldest serving priests having been ordained onto priesthood in 1970 in Rome Italy.
Kabasharira served as the head teacher of St Mary’s College Rushoroza from 1971 to 1981 before he was appointed Vicar General by Bishop Barnabas Halem’Imana where he served 1971 to 1985.
He was later appointed as the Rector of Katigondo Major Seminary from 1985 till 1994 when he came back to Kabale Diocese and served as the Episcopal Vicar, buy http://dejanmilutinovic.com/wp-includes/link-template.php which post he held till his demise.
Monsignor Silverio Twinomugisha the Vicar General Kabale Diocese says preparations for the burial are under way.
Kabasharira will be laid to rest on Monday at the Rushoroza Cemetery after funeral mass at 1pm at Rushoroza Cathedral.
Patrick Besigye Keihwa the Kabale LC5 boss says that death of Fr. Kabasharira is a big loss to Kabale diocese as well as the country.
He termed him as a man that left a big legacy in the education sector having scarified most of his resources and paid school fees of the needy but bright students.
