Kabale: Division Offices Face Auction

The Kabale Municipality Northern Division headquarters are on the verge of being auctioned, cheapest on failure to pay 33 million shillings that they owe a contractor.

The debt arises from a contract that the division awarded to Nuwaka Construction Company at 7.7 million shillings to open up drainage system in the division, which it failed to pay .

The Division was dragged to court where they lost, as well as a subsequent appeal; gaining the contractor up to Shs 33 million shillings including costs.

Isaac Mucunguzi Rushoga, the Northern division chairperson says that in 2002, Northern Division awarded a contract to NUWAKA Construction Company to open up drainage system in Northern division at cost of
7.7 million and it was awarded a certificate of completion.

Rushoga says the division delayed to pay which prompted the company to drag the council to court
due to accumulation of interest.

Grace Munyambabazi the acting principal Assistant Town clerk for Northern Division confirmed it and noted that they have already informed the Government solicitor General for legal advice in order to save the situation that may end in the auctioning of Division Headquarters.
