Kabale: Crisis As Former Director Fails to Hand Over Health Vehicles

Dr Patrick Tusiime reportedly left the country before handing over the hospital vehicles

Kabale District Health officials are facing a transport crisis after the former district Director of Health Services Dr. Patrick Tusiime failed to handover some of the vehicles in his possession two months before he left the job.

Dr. Tusiime was promoted this year in May to Commissioner In-charge of Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health in Kampala.

However, health he did not hand over the equipment under his previous office including the hospital vehicles and according reports, search he recently left the country for a long term duty in South Africa.

According to Johnson Baguma, diagnosis the Kabale district Secretary for Health, the vehicles still in the hands of Dr Tusiime include an ambulance for Mparo H/C IV among others.

Albert Matsiko Mutungwire the Kabale district Chief Administrative Officer told our reporter that Dr. Tusiime was expected early this month to handover all the vehicles including the immunization vehicle that was donated by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations-GAVI this year.

“Like everyone else, Dr Tusiime was supposed to hand over his office on July 1st,’ said the CAO.

Mutungwire says they have no choice but to wait for Tusiime to return from South Africa.
