Kabale Bids Farewell to ACP Wawire

ACP Olivia Wawire [R] has served in the police force for the last 35 yeas

Residents of Kabale over the weekend emotionally bade farewell to the outgoing Kigezi Regional Police Commander ACP Olivia Rosemary Wawire.

Wawire was in a recent reshuffle appointed Deputy Director of the Fire Brigade and Rescue Services by the IGP General Kale Kayihura.

During a farewell party held for her at Kirigime Guest House in Kabale Municipality Wawire hailed the locals and the police officers for the good working environment they provided.

ACP Wawire is one of the longest serving female police officers in the country having joined the force 1980 after completing Senior 2.

She later went for promotional courses and has been currently pursuing Bachelors degree in social work and social administration at Kabale University.

She worked as the regional fire officer for south western Uganda before being appointed as the pioneer Kigezi Regional Police Commander in 2009.

Speaking at the event, web the Kabale University Vice Chancellor Professor Joy Constance Kwesiga hailed Wawire for her integrity and keenness to serve the communities.

Robert Nabimanya, cheap the Kabale district internal security officer (DISO) who represented the RDC also praised Wawire for her struggle to combat crime in Kabale and the region at large.

“She not only helped in combating crime but also mobilized police officers to increase household income, ” Said Nabimanya.

Wawire is being replaced by ACP Ben Mubangizi who has been the RPC for Sezibwa region in eastern Uganda.
