The Kabaka on Thursday started his visit to Kabula County in preparations for Bulungibwansi ceremonies.

This year’s theme was “Nyikira okukola Bulungibwansi N’okusitula Embeerayo.”
The programme was introduced by the ancestors of Buganda as a self help activity purposely to clean their walk ways, dosage water resources and to promote health care in the villages.
However, while Kabaka’s trip was aimed at encouraging people to engage in self-help commercial activities to create sustainable sources of revenue and eradicate poverty, some politicians expressed discomfort that the monarch’s tour would boost the political credentials of Deborah Tuhirirwe Rwabwogo.
A successful commercial farmer in the area, Deborah is a sister of Odrek Rwabwogo – Museveni’s in-law.
She recently announced plans to stand for the area Woman MP to challenge Grace Namara – the wife of tycoon Godfrey Kirumira in the 2016 elections
Chimpreports understands that some of Namara’s supporters including former Minister, James Kakooza were unhappy that Kabaka spent more time with Deborah than the area representative.
“I was excluded from participating in this tour because the team organizers headed by Buganda area representatives do not support me. They are fighting for my downfall in the next election. All this was to make my rival more popular hoping that she wins the next election but this will not be easy because I will fight back,” said Namara.
Kakooza also observed that the “Buganda organizing committee should check on their conduct and avoid leaving our people divided.”
Deborah owns a big farm and beautiful residence. She has hundreds of acres of maize plantations and rears goats and cows. She is an advocate of commercial agriculture in the region.
She gave Kabaka three Friesian cows and three improved goats.
Mutebi did not give a speech to his subjects but Mayiga praised her for training women in starting small projects to overcome poverty.
Mayiga urged the youth to avoid reckless sexual behaviour and that they should spend most of their time in improving their livelihoods.
The Bulungibwansi Day is an annual event cerebrated in Buganda every October 8 in memory of Buganda’s Independence; and it rotates in different counties.
Several activities were performed in people’s homes including cleaning of community wells, planting trees and cleaning roads.
