Srna promised that Ugandans should expect the best offers but declined to make revelation of them preferring that they should take their customers by surprise.

“We understand that consumers in Uganda have faced a rough year economically. With customer satisfaction as our top priority, Black Friday will last 5 days to give even more people the opportunity to shop for discounts.

The Manager revealed that last year, Jumia Market’s Black Friday broke records by attracting 17x more orders than on a normal day and 4x traffic.

“With the support of our official Black Friday partners – MTN, NTV and Capital FM – we have planned a shopping event that our customers will love.”

Jumia has therefore advised consumers to research their favorite products in advance, and place them on their wish list to prepare for the discounts.

“Black Friday” originated from the U.S. and from the phenomenon that takes place after the day of thanksgiving, when retailers see a pike in sales. The day became the biggest shopping day of the year with retailers offering discounts and special deals. Now, “Black Friday” is a global movement and Ugandans search for the best deals and discounts they would otherwise not get on a regular day.
