The awards were organised under five categories where the best hotels out of over 900 were determined and awarded on Thursday at a dinner at MacKinnon Suits Hotel in Kampala.
The awards were won by Kipling lodges, Forest Cottages hotel, Mbale Resort Hotel, Kampala Serena Hotel and Hotel Acacia city respectively.
Evelyn Masaba the communications officer at Jumia Travel noted that the best hotels were selected based on the agreed standards by Hotel Owners’ Association and basic standards within the East African Community.
“Despite being new in the business, Kipling lodges in Jinja has put up the best rooms up to standards and have worked so hard being so visible online,” Masaba said.
Masaba noted that Forest Cottages in Bukoto a member of the Speke group of companies was highly rated by customers having the best customer care services hence winning the customer’s choice award.
“Mbale Resort Hotel won the Best Hotel Partner award because of they have maintained constant communication with Jumia Travel who have always followed critics that they receive and have hence used them to find better solutions.”
Masaba appreciated Kampala Serena Hotel who won the Best Partner award for always being helpful on the many campaigns that they have been pitching.
She cited the Love box campaign which was run on Valentine’s day where Serena Hotel offered them free rooms, lunch, dinner and cakes for their guests.
Masaba observed that the team found out that Hotel Acacia City under Acacia group of hotels time after time receive booking for their rooms as compared to others hence winning the Booking award.
