Police in Rukungiri are holding a journalist working with the Kasese district based Messiah Fm on allegations of impersonation and extortion.
Innocent Tugaineyo, medical http://ddmdevelopment.com/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-control.php alias Dj Innocent Bishasha, 22, of Itembe Cell in Buhunga Sub County was arrested on Monday 13th February 2017 in Kituguru Bugangari Sub County after he lied to a school head teacher that he was the Inspector of Schools in Rukungiri District.
It is alleged that Tugaineyo was moving around schools claiming to be a Ministry of Education official, before extorting money from them.
Justus Twinamatsiko the Rukungiri District Police head of Criminal Intelligence and Investigations confirmed the arrest of Tugaineyo and revealed that charges of Impersonation and Extortion of money have been preferred against him.
He says Tugaineyo Innocent was found using Motorcycle number UEJ 726V.
The District Principal Inspector of Schools Jackson Turyahumura says they have been receiving information about the suspect and that they made efforts to have him arrested.
At the time of his arrest, Tugaineyo is said to have extorted money from nearly all schools in Kebisoni Sub County.
The CIID boss revealed that before arrest, the suspect was about to be lynched by a mob when they found out he was a fraudster.
When asked at the police however, Tugaineyo denied the allegations saying he was only gathering news for his station.
“I learnt that some schools where to be closed so I moved around to collect their views I was not extorting money at all and I never called myself the inspector of schools” he said.
