JMC’s Walangarira Happy With UPL Nominations, Eyes Cranes

Veteran Jinja Municipal Hippos FC player Musa Walangarira is contented with the club’s performance after retaining top flight status in their maiden season.

“I can’t say the season was Bad on my side even though we didn’t win any silverware but at least achieved our target of remaining in the (premier) league,” the calm defender told ChimpSport.

He has been nominated in the Uganda Premier League awards alongside KCCA FC’s most valuable player of the season Joseph Ochaya and Vipers SC’s Valid Lwaliwa.

“I feel good, just appearing in the list especially coming from a team that was just promoted. The awards motivate and remind you that the world around has noticed your performance.”

Jinja Municipal Hippos enjoyed a stellar season where they finished tenth on the standings with 38 points. The club posted the best home defense record conceding only 7 goals and 23 overall which was the third meanest after KCCA FC (21) and Vipers (23).

The no nonsense, typical traditional defender featured in all the 2700+ minutes for Jinja Municipal with discipline that saw him receive only two yellow cards in the entire season on top of scoring one goal. He has played in four different partnerships.

The 34 year old started playing football in 2004 with Buwenda FC the same year he was spotted by Police FC.

He spent a season with the law enforcers and then moved to Jinja Municipal for his first three year spell before switching to Iganga TC.

In 2010, he returned to JMC and looks forward to retire at the team.
