The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon at the Ambercourt market near the UPDF’s Gadaffi Barracks.

The solider identified only as Private Ajuna according to eyewitnesses, pulled out his riffle in a bar and started spraying bullets with no warning.
Ajuna, reports say, arrived at the bar known locally as Maama Kayanja’s bar which is owned by the wife of one of the soldiers at the barracks.
Here he started drinking glass after glass before he grabbed his gun and left. Later on according to witnesses, he returned with the AK47 riffle, strapped with four magazines on his chest and asked where the bar owner had gone. After they directed him, without a warning he opened fire and injured four people.
Perhaps certain that all the four were dead; Ajuna reportedly turned the gun on himself and ended his life.
The incident brings to three, the number of mass shootings by UPDF soldiers in just nine weeks.
In April, Lance Corporal Moses Katwesigye shot and killed 8 people and injured another three in Nyakinoni sub county, Kanungu following a marital misunderstanding. He was sentenced to 90 years in jail by the army court.
Two weeks ago, at Makindye military barracks, a one Sgt Isaac Obua killed seven people, including three children before he was taken out by his colleagues.
