This was revealed in a statement issued by the Office of Prime Minister today evening.

It follows reports that Rugunda had travelled to fine woo Ugandans abroad and the international community in favour of government ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.

The Prime Minister was a guest of honour at the North America Masaba Cultural Association (NAMCA) convention in Washington DC.

While in Minnesota, the Prime Minister also visited and spoke students and faculty at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

Earlier on Friday 22 May, the Prime Minister was a guest of honour at the North America Masaba Cultural Association (NAMCA) convention in Washington DC.

NAMCA brings together Ugandans from Bugisu sub-region and focusses on promoting Masaba culture and language.

According to the statement, on May 27, Dr Rugunda met a big gathering of Ugandans living and working in Boston area in Massachusetts.

“At all the meetings, the Prime Minister informed the people about current developments in Uganda, including investment priorities, such as in building roads, railways, energy plants, education and health centres, oil and gas and agriculture, that are currently being implemented by Government,” reads the statement in part.

“He also informed his hosts that Uganda is safe, stable, peaceful and secure, and encouraged them to invest back home.”

In the course of the visit, the Prime Minister also met senior State Department officials in Washington DC with whom they discussed relations between the US and Uganda, regional security issues, trade and investment opportunities, and addressing global health challenges like Ebola, HIV/AIDS and Malaria.

During the trip, Dr Rugunda also spoke to several US media, including Voice of America, Reuters, Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal.
First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni has been invited by FUFA to officiate at the Uganda cup final pitting Kampala City Council Fc vs Sports Club Villa on Saturday 6th June.
