Investigate Police on Fuel Money – Urges DP

The Secretary General of the Democratic Party Matthias Nsubunga has asked government through the Finance Ministry to investigate where the Uganda Police Force invests the billions of money the government gives them to run its activities.

The call follows reports on Tuesday that the police leadership was asking members of the public to contribute money to fuel its patrol and other vehicles.

While addressing the media at the Democratic Party head offices in Kampala, advice Nsubuga noted, “It’s a shame that after getting these billions of shillings, police still resorts to begging from the public. The question now rises; where does that money go?” he said.

Police has in the past come under critique for investing mostly in equipment meant to silence the political opposition and less on community policing and crime prevention.
