Andy Mwesigwa: Cranes Will Make It To Brazil
Uganda Cranes skipper Andy Mwesigwa refused to throw in the towel in the race to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after watching his side score late to draw with Senegal at Namboole on Saturday.
Mwesigwa, who was forced off with a suspected groin injury midway the second half to be replaced by Hassan Wasswa, is, however, optimistic Uganda can still make it to Brazil.
“Senegal can also lose points at their home you never know we can also go to Senegal and beat them,” said the skipper, “It’s all about encountering every game you play and we are still in the race.
“It’s a series where you play this game then another so I think losing two points today is normal. Senegal is a good team with big players.”
Godfrey Walusimbi scored Uganda’s equaliser from the penalty spot after substitute Geoffrey Massa was adjudged to have been fouled in the area.
Papiss Demba Cisse had given the visitors the lead after Ndoye Dame beat four men in the Cranes defence before crossing for the Newcastle striker to tap home.
