Amavubi Star Patrick Mafisango Killed In Car Accident
Simba SC and Amavubi international midfielder Patrick Mafisango is dead.
Mafisango was killed in a car accident Thursday in Dar El Salaam, Tanzania.
The sad news come just days after Mafisango and Amavubi former player Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti were recalled to the national team after years in the cold.
The pair was set to be part of the 32-man provisional squad named by head coach Milutin Sredojovic 'Micho' to start preparations for the upcoming 2014 Brazil World Cup and 2013 Nations Cup qualifiers.
According to The New Times, Ndikumana, 33, who re-signed for Primus league side Rayon Sports after being released by Cyprus' APOP Kinyras Peyias early this year, was part of the famous Amavubi team which played at the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia.
Mafisango, who featured for Tanzanian League champions Simba SC, was set to return to the Amavubi fold after a year on the sidelines due to indiscipline and poor performance.
