Frank Nsubuga, 41, was knocked off his bike on March 27. He was taken to Royal London Hospital where a leg was amputated and was unconscious in intensive care for six days.

The accident led to Spurs’ game against Bolton being delayed for 15 minutes to allow fans time to arrive at the stadium.

A friend said Mr Nsubuga of Enfield, who was originally from Uganda, left a wife and several children. Isaac Adams, 33, said the businessman’s death had devastated his community.

He said: “He was the most popular African man in London. Frank was someone who got on with everyone. He was the best man. He was a lovely man, very friendly and popular in the community.”

A 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released on bail.
