Uganda Police Mourn Cop Killed In Kasese
Constable Ssemakule Mugabi, the police officer killed in Friday’s raid on Mukokya Police post in Kasese, was laid to rest with full police honors yesterday, July 30th.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Lt Gen Kale Kayihura attended the ceremony alongside other senior police officers.
Constable Mugabi was from Kitezi, south Kampala. His funeral took place at Mityana in Southern Uganda.
He is survived by his wife and three young children.
Constable Mugabi’s colleagues, Corporal Sunday Levi and Constable Mandule Wilson are still being treated for their injuries at a nearby hospital.
The investigation into the killing is continuing with one man taken into police custody and an automatic rifle recovered.
The IGP is still in the Kasese region working to calm the tribal tensions that are believed to have led to the attack.
"Uganda Police Force would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Constable Mugabi’s family," police said in a statement.
