South Sudan Police Boss Jets In
South Sudanese Police Commander Gen. Tito Acuil arrived Wednesday at Entebbe International Airport for security talks with his Ugandan counterpart Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura.
Tito and Ugandan officials from Police and Ministries of Internal Affairs and Trade will share views on how to bring about peace between the borders of the two countries.
Kayihura recently travelled to the S. Sudan border after truck drivers and traders staged a strike, protesting harassment by armed gangs.
The protest brought business to a standstill for a couple of days.
It took Kayihura's intervention to diffuse the tensions by assuring traders of maximum security when transporting their goods to and from the two countries.
Tito and Kayihura later set up joint operations to hunt down the criminals thus restoring sanity at the border.
The South Sudan Police boss told Chimp Corps at Entebbe Airport that as a new nation, S. Sudan is still facing serious security challenges including lawlessness.
“I have come to pick lessons from Uganda Police’s community policing initiatives so that we can put an end to insecurity in our country,” confessed Tito.
Tito’s trip is a step forward in eradicating hooliganism at the border that has cost the two countries billions of shillings.
