Prince Saul Mpunga rose to prominence late last year when he revealed he was the elder son of departed King Patrick Kaboyo.

Mpunga said his late mother Joyce Rubuga made love to Kaboyo in the King’s palace where she worked as a maid.

His revelation generated debate among the public in Fort Portal, even up to date.

Mpunga was recognized two weeks ago by members of the royal family, the Babitto, at a secret meeting held at the home of Professor Edward Rugumayo in Njara, Fort Portal town.

Contacted for comment, Rugumayo declined to reveal the details of Mpunga’s recognition and referred the reporter to the secretary of the royal family Isaac Rabwoni.

Rwabwoni confirmed the recognition of Mpunga, but hastily added this was a private matter that did not require public attention.

In an interview, Mpunga told our place reporter Linda Namara he was excited at new development.

“I am happy for this recognition by the royal family. Being away from my relatives for a long time has been haunting me. I am now a very happy man upon the re-union with my relatives,” said Mpunga.

He claims to have told the royal clean leaders he wanted to return to school.

“I therefore need financial support for school fees. I am a S.3 drop out,” said Mpunga.

He also noted he was eagerly waiting to meet King Oyo and Queen Mother Best Kemigisa.
