Barigye Casket Arrives Tomorrow
Final arrangements for the burial ceremonies of fallen Ankole Prince John Patrick Barigye have been revealed.
The prince succumbed to kidney failure at AgaKhan Hospital, Nairobi last Friday.
Ankole Prime Minister William Katatumba says the casket containing Barigye’s body arrives tomorrow at 1:00pm. The casket will be received by members of the Royal family and Ankole elders. It will then be transported by Uganda Funeral Services to Mulago Hospital and kept there till overnight.
On Friday at 10:00am, the royal casket will be taken to Namirembe Cathedral for a funeral service. At 1:00pm, the casket will depart for Muhabura palace Mbarara to lay in state for public viewing until Sunday.
On Sunday, the royal casket will be taken to St. James Cathedral Ruharo, Mbarara for last funeral service after which at 2:00pm, Barigye will be laid to rest at the Nkokonjeru Royal Burial grounds.
Shortly after burial, the family members, relatives and friends will return to Muhabura Palace (Kaliro) for other royal funeral rites.
