BREAKING: Bukenya Officially Acquitted, Hails M7
Former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya has officially acknowledged that President Yoweri Museveni had a hand in the withdrawing of charges of corruption levelled against him.
Bukenya was today Monday appearing in court for the official withdrawal of the charges by the Anti-corruption court in Kampala.
Last Friday, IGG Raphael Baku shocked the nation when he told court he had lost interest in prosecuting Bukenya for his alleged abuse of office during preparations for Common Wealth meeting in 2007.
“I am very grateful to President Museveni for remembering me in time of need. I will never leave NRM. The President is a good person. I am happy that everyone sees I was innocent,” Bukenya told chimpreports.com shortly after court session.
Justice Catherine Bamumereire did not spare the IGG, accusing him of disrespecting court by absenting himself from the Court session even after receiving official communication.
A handful of Bukenya’s supporters and sympathisers were filled with excitement after the acquittal.
We exclusively revealed Friday that Museveni had instructed Baku to immediately withdraw charges against Bukenya after his wife Janet Museveni complained that Bukenya was a victim of political intrigue in NRM.
