Politicians, religious leaders, and the general public paid their respects to the fallen academic as his body lay in state at Parliament.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga remembered Senteza as a nationalist, great academic and very hardworking man.

Kadaga expressed sadness that despite fighting for Uganda’s Independence, Senteza would miss this year’s celebrations aimed at marking 50 years of autonomy from Colonial rule.

A special Parliamentary session is now sitting in honour of Senteza.

Premier Amama Mbabazi, on behalf of government, said Senteza was a real statesman. He said government was saddened by the loss of the academic.

Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni yesterday paid a special tribute to the former Makerere University Vice Chancellor.

Museveni noted that at the age of 86 years, Prof. Kajubi was not a very old man adding that the country could have still kept benefiting from his expertise had he lived longer.

The President made these remarks last night when he paid a visit to the home of late the Professor in Bugolobi, one of Kampala’s City suburbs to express his profound condolences to the family members upon the death of the Professor.

He passed on Tuesday at his family home in Bugolobi.

Museveni said that the late Professor Senteza Kajubi served his country in many capacities including Vice Chancellor of Makerere University and Nkumba University.

He added that the passing on of the Professor is not only a great loss to the family and the educational fraternity but to the whole nation.

The President commended the spirit of the late Professor’s children in looking after and taking care of their father in his advanced age.

Prof. Mugambi of Nkumba University who received the President at the deceased’s home in Bugolobi revealed that the late Professor Kajubi’s body will be laid to rest on Saturday in Wakiso district.
