Ariong Murder: Besigye, Lukwago Trial Adjourned
10:30am: Magistrate Grace Balintuma reads the charges against Lukwago since other politicians had earlier been charged.
Lukwago is accused of holding an unlawful assembly, leading to death of Ariong; injuring police officers Wabwire and Julius Olweny and also disturbance of peace and security in Kampala.
Lukwago denies the charges.
The case is adjourned to May 16.
9:30am: Besigye and Lukwago arrive at Buganda Road Court.
8:50am: Opposition boss Col. Kizza Besigye and other 15 opposition members charged with holding an illegal assembly in which a police officer lost his life will on Tuesday morning appear before court.
Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago, Hon. Nabillah Naggayi, Ingrid Turinawe and Hajji Munyagwa among others reportedly organized a political rally last month in Kampala in which officer John Bosco Ariong died.
They are expected at Buganda Road court at 9:00am.
Other nine opposition supporters separately charged over the murder of Ariong and remanded at Luzira prison are also expected at the same court today.
