Rwanda’s New Times reports Kagame is on a three-day working visit.

Kagame is expected to meet prominent Turkish businessmen, including several investors who have already been to Rwanda, according to officials.

Kagame is also scheduled to tour manufacturing companies in Istanbul before receiving an honorary doctorate from Fatih University in recognition for his leadership in Rwanda as well as his contribution within the international community on Friday.

Officials say Turkey and Rwanda enjoy cordial relations.

Turkey is represented in Rwanda through its Embassy in Kampala, Uganda.

Rwanda has been represented in Turkey since 2009 by an Honorary Consul.

In September 2011, Kigali opened a full-fledged Honorary Consulate and an office of the Rwanda Development Board, both in Istanbul.
