Plain textOpposition To Flag Off Walk-To-Work With Beach Bash
Opposition leaders under their umbrella Activists For Change (A4C) will soon throw a beach bash ahead of the planned Walk-to-work protests.
According to FDC official Moses Byamugisha, all opposition activists are invited for the party slated for January 15 at Aero Beach, Entebbe.
“We will be meeting to have fun, socialise, know each other and network, this time not in a street-protest where we normally meet,” Byamugisha notes.
The activists will cut a cake, according to Byamugisha.
Interestingly, Aero beach is located near President Yoweri Museveni’s residence.
Chimpreports.com is reliably informed the party is aimed at morale boosting opposition members ahead of a new round of walk-to-work.
Party leaders will on the same day announce the revival of walk-to-work.
A source in FDC says activists intend to ‘walk’ from the beach, a move that could paralyse Entebbe.
It’s unclear whether the Special Forces Group, an elite force that guards the President, will allow the activity to take place.
Security has in the past blocked ‘walk-to-work’ protests, arguing the political activity disrupts traffic flow and causes destruction of property.
A4C leader Mathius Mpuuga late last year publicly announced walk –to-work would resume shortly after the festive season.
Col. Kizza Besigye a few weeks ago told Makerere students that 2012 is a year of shedding blood to liberate Uganda from what he termed as Museveni’s dictatorship.
The FDC political dynamite maintains Museveni must be removed from power before 2016.
The development comes hardly a week when Besigye and Museveni were reported in secret talks.
Besigye denied the reports.
The walk-to-work protests could be aimed at sending a strong signal to opposition supporters that Besigye is determined to remove Museveni from power using protests.
