2 US Evangelists, K'la Bishop Die In Fatal Road Accident
At least five lives have been lost in a fatal road accident in Kakira along the Jinja Road.
This website broke the sad news yesterday at 8:00pm.
Top City Bishop Pastor John Michael Mugerwa of Katwe, Kampala his son Ronnie Ssebunya, and three Americans perished in the road carnage.
Mugerwa is the head of Saints Gate Pentecostal Church, Kampala.
The US born-again gospel preachers are Dr. Reoz Godzck and Leon Both. The evangelists are attached to a prominent church in Arizona, United States.
Police sources the bloody incident occurred at around 7:00pm local time as a car they were travelling got trapped between two over speeding trailers. The driver changed his mind as he attempted to overtake but as he laboured to fix the car back into the lane, a trailer smashed it beyond repair. Police used axes to cut the wreckage before extracting the bodies.
The gospel preachers were travelling to Kampala after attending a conference of married couples in Namutumba district.
The bodies of the dead are at Mulago Hospital for post-mortem.
The Kakira area has of recent been black spot. A few weeks ago, an entire family of a Standard Chartered Bank employee was lost in an accident at the same spot.
WHO IS MUGERWA?
John was born again of the Spirit of God in 1982 and in 1984 assumed responsibility for a new Church in Katwe, one of the slum areas on the edge of the capital city of Uganda. The Church began with two women.
Mugerwa's church has over 20 branches churches in various parts of Uganda. John is well known throughout the country. He has established a School for orphans where 1300 children receive accommodation, education, and training for life.
Police has arrested a co-driver of the trailer that killed the men of God. The driver is still at large.
