Zooey Deschanel plays Jess a dokey, childish pre-school teacher who has just broken up with her boyfriend. Jess goes to his house to surprise him only this time she gets surprised and finds him with another girl. After a big heartbreak Jess meets three guys who she pleads with to let her stay in their apartment loft. The guys are a little skeptical about the whole idea because of her unusual behavior but later on accept her and are very supportive most of the time.
Of her three new male roommates, NICK (Jake Johnson) is the most grounded...and also the most jaded. A law school dropout, he spends most of his time hiding under his hoodie and tending bar.
SCHMIDT (Max Greenfield) is a hustling young professional who's pretty proud of his own abs. WINSTON (Lamorne Morris), is an intensely competitive former athlete who doesn't know what to do next-but whatever he does, he wants to win it.
