Chameleone Faces Arrest Over Assault
Police detectives have laid an ambush at Quality Supermarket, Lubowa off Entebbe Road, in a bid to arrest musician Jose Chameleone over a bar brawl.
He usually hangs out at this spot with his Leone Island Crew members.
The popular “Valu Valu” lyric star is being hunted for turning businessman Smart Obed’s son into a punching bag during a scuffle last Friday at the Kololo-based nightspot Casablanca.
Eddie Ruhweza on Saturday morning recorded a statement at Kampala Central Police Station accusing Chameleone of cruelly beating him up in the presence of his girlfriend.
This is an abridged version of upcoming artiste Ruhweza’s statement recorded as SD 02/11/5/12.
It was a Friday evening when Chameleone found me having drinks with my girlfriend at Casablanca. He was in company of a large group.
He instructed me to leave the counter so he could have a chat with my girlfriend Laura. At first I thought Chameleone was joking. But he insisted.
I objected. I said it was not possible to leave Laura for him.
We engaged in a bitter exchange of words. Chameleone, who was visibly high on alcohol, subsequently directed his crew members to forcefully take me away from the bar counter.
As I attempted to resist, Chameleone punched me.
He shamelessly wanted uninterrupted access to my girlfriend.
In a twinkle of an eye, I found myself in the loos where Chameleone’s goons were mercilessly thumping me.
I sustained grave injuries on my elbow. For the better part of the night I bled profusely through the right ear. It was a horribly painful incident.
He has on several occasions threatened to harm me. He badly wants Laura, a student at Aptec in Kampala.
Police should arrest and charge him with assault.
Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi has confirmed the development, saying investigations into the incident are under way.
Casablanca manager Musa Kasazirwe told Chimp Corps that indeed the two were on Friday involved in a bitter brawl.
Ruhweza’s father charged: “I do not care whether he is an artiste or whatever. I will deal with him at all costs. My son has failed to sit for his exams at Aptec because of Chameleone’s misconduct. This is unacceptable.”
This is not the first time the singer is involved in a bar brawl. A few years ago, Chameleone nearly broke a one Desire Ndyomugyenyi’s nose at Club Angenoir.
The singer secretly bought Ndyomugyenyi’s silence at Shs1.2m after police raided his Lubowa residence.
