Ugandan hip hop star Navio will headline the GIZ Energy Explorerz Earth Day Kampala concert set to take place on April 22 at the Heights, Centenary Park, Kampala.
Also featuring will be local stars Jackie Chandiru, Lilian, Richy, Tshila and live band performances by the Sundowners band.
The event will celebrate Earth Day, an annual celebration where events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment.
It is currently held in over 175 countries worldwide. Energy Explorerz is an initiative of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development implemented by GIZ which seeks to promote education on energy efficiency and climate change issues among school children.
Chimpreports Corps have learned the concert is also supported by the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC).
The highlights of the event will be an exhibition on energy efficiency and climate change followed by live performances and the release of “Your Chance”, Navio’s latest music video, featuring Jackie, that promotes environmental awareness.
This will be Navio’s first public performance since he returned from the 3rd African Entertainment Awards event in Malaysia where he picked up an award as the Best East African Artist on 14th April 2012.
“I am back in Uganda for one reason! We're having a concert for energy. This is a fan and music-lovers event. It’s free of charge. Sometimes you gotta give fans something back! Be at the heights at Centenary Park for a band show,” said Uganda’s Hip Hop maestro.
