Receiving his car in Masaka on Friday, Pilly Kiiza, 22, a second year student at MUBS pursuing a Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management, said he joined the Moto Moto promotion draw via Facebook with 12 entries and another 15 text messages on his phone.

The part-time chef’s phone has not stopped ringing since.

“I received the phone call from Jose Chameleone at around 8:45pm telling me that I had won a Nissan X-trail. I did not sleep after that until 6:00am. I was so excited but also I kept receiving phone calls from friends congratulating me and asking if it was real. Others were girls offering themselves to me. I have received more than 100 calls since that day,” said Kiiza, a resident of Makindye, adding, “After here, I want to cool off. I will take the car home, wash it, park it and then stand and stare at it.”

“I want to encourage people to continue drinking Pepsi products. I couldn’t believe that something like this would happen to me. I am going to drive this car. Maintaining it will not be a problem because I am working. It’s everyone’s dream to drive while at campus.”

The other winner, Monica Namara, 20, is a Mobile Money attendant in Nsambya, Kampala who emerged winner after sending 25 messages to 7111.

“I was watching the Moto Moto show on Wednesday when they called the first person and the number was busy. I prayed that they would try mine. When I recognised my number on the screen, I immediately held onto my phone to make sure it was not busy,” SHE SAID.

“People at home were screaming, I could not hear anything. But I was surprised. I couldn’t believe it. It was a miracle to me. I used to think that Pepsi plants its own people to win these cars but it’s real. People should continue drinking Pepsi products so they become winners like me. I had never planned on taking driving lessons but I started after I received that phone call.”

Speaking at the handover bash in Masaka, Regional Sales Manager, Charles Byona, said he was excited to see people from different parts of the country win four Nissan X-trails so far.

“16 are left. As Crown Beverages Limited, we take time to say thanks to consumers for supporting us. This is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to make sure that we are in touch with the consumers,” Byona said.

Moto Moto promotion will see consumers instantly walk away with more than 3 million prizes. All one has to do is check under the crown and what you see is what you win! Instant prizes include DStv and GOtv decoders with 3 months subscription, Nokia Asha smart phones, cooking oil, NOMI detergent, sugar, airtime, t-shirts and sodas.
