Rwanda To Launch Agaciro Development Fund Next Week
Agaciro Development Fund, a solidarity fund initiated by Rwandans to improve the level of financial autonomy of Rwanda as discussed during last year’s National Dialogue will be launched next week
This fund will be used to support key priorities such as rural development projects among others.
The Minister of Economic Planning and Finance, John Rwangombwa said Thursday: “The fund is not coming to substitute the existing funds but rather to supplement them.”
He added: “The uniqueness of the fund is that it is Rwandans themselves that will finance it voluntarily.”
The move, aimed at boosting self-reliance comes at a time when western countries are such as Germany, Sweden, UK and United States are cutting aid.
A huge part of Rwanda’s national budget is funded by donors.
