MPs To Hear Mbabazi, Onek Oil Petition Tomorrow
A motion seeking the forceful removal of Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and Hilary Onek from Parliament will be discussed tomorrow.
Speaker Rebecca Kadaga told MPs led by Theodore Ssekikuubo at her office last Thursday that the crucial item shall be allocated space on the order paper.
MPs accuse the two government officials for treating Parliament with contempt by defying a resolution ordering them to step down from office pending investigations into allegations of corruption.
MPs say Mbabazi and Onek last year accepted bribes from Eni and Tullow oil companies respectively.
An adhoc committee led by former Housing Minister Werikhe has been put in place to probe the allegations.
The two officials deny the allegations. While talking to Chimpreports.com a couple of days ago, Mbabazi responded to the Parliamentary resolution with contempt.
“The investigation is welcome. I am not stepping a side because I am innocent. Those documents are forgeries.”
Asked whether he is afraid of a possible censure by Parliament, Mbabazi said: “Censure? Impossible!”
