The Ibanda Resident District Commissioner Mr. Eliasto Akatuheebwa has directed a team from Uganda Coffee Development Authority to close all coffee factories which are operating in bad conditions and compromising their product quality.

This follows a higher directive from President Yoweri Museveni to the UCDA and UNBS to arrest and prosecute farmers tampering with the quality of coffee.

The RDC made the order during a meeting between Ibanda coffee processors and traders at Ibanda Municipal hall.

Members who missed the meeting will have their factories closed immediately according to the RDC.

There are also reports that some dealers are adding stones and other additives to earn extra money.

Some of the factories that face closure are located along Ibanda-Kagongo road, Kigarama trading center, Mpiira Street, Mabonwa, Nyarukika and Ishongororo town council.

Police have already confirmed participation in this operation.
