He mentioned a number of developmental issues which his government has done that include, increasing the water coverage from 43% to 76% in Apac district, construction of road and schools among others.

Mr Okae was flanked by UPC flag bearer for Maruzi county and incumbent member of parliament for Maruzi county, Mr Maxwell Akora, Mr Geoffrey Ogwal Adyabo for Kwania county and UPC flag bearer for Apac woman MP Kelly Auma.

“UPC members are listening to different voices [presidential candidates]. There are members supporting Kizza Besigye, Amama Mbabazi and Museveni,” Mr Akora  said.

He gave an example of his predecessor, Mr Olara Otunnu, who is supporting the Go Forward pressure group of candidate Mbabazi.

“On a personal note, we are looking at the future of this country. We want a peaceful transition but Museveni must not be part of it. And constitutionally, he will not stand in 2021 since he will be above 75 years,” Mr Akora said.

Article 103(b) of the Constitution bars a person under the age of 35 and above 75 to be elected president.
