A dark cloud on Thursday evening covered Makindye military barracks and its environs after a Uganda People’s Defense Forces soldier shot dead 7 people before he was put out of action.

“The drunken soldier who had a history of numerous family challenges picked a gun and tried to shoot his wife who escaped unhurt, http://crunchydomesticgoddess.com/wp-includes/class-wp-user.php ” said the spokesperson.
“This prompted the officer to turn onto the other people around him.”
“The shooting which started at around 4 pm lasted over 45 minutes as Sergeant Obua shot randomly while taking cover. It took the courage of other soldiers to also put him out of action.”
One of the soldiers who preferred anonymity told this website that Obua had earlier picked a quarrel with the wife who is also an officer of the UPDF.
It was a moment of grief in the Makindye based military police barracks as most of the soldiers were seen in disbelief.
The bodies of the deceased were later taken to Mulago mortuary for postmortem whereas police has started investigations into the matter.
In an interview with Chimpreports, the Military police commander Col. Emmanuel Kanyesigye said that the public should avoid speculatiing about the incident which he said is not related to what has been happening elsewhere lately.
“Like in any society or organization, there are always some rotten tomatoes; such an incident happened here in our backyard but it should not alarm the public,” Col. Kanyesige said.
“The incident cannot be connected to the security of the city and the country at large. The city and country are peaceful and there is no need to be worried. We shall continue to maintain this security.”
The UPDF 2nd Division Court Martial in Kanungu last week sentenced their own Lance Corporal Moses Katoko Katwesigye to 90 years in jail for murdering eight people and injuring three, in a similar shootout.
Katwesigye was found guilty of indiscriminately shooting and killing eight people at Kihihi trading centre on the night of April 21, 2016 after escaping from his duty station, with his firearm after a domestic fight with his wife at the time of the tragedy.
