Following the death of the Court’s Chairman, UPDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda revealed today that business there will have to be halted for the time being.

He explained that the court has no other interim structural set up that would allow continuation of the case which the deceased was handling.

“The President will now have to appoint another Chairman, and until then everything else has to wait,” Ankunda told us on phone.

Gen Sejusa‘s hearing at the court was halted by the Kampala High Court following an application he filed challenging his stay in the UPDF.

Sejusa was later on April 1st granted a Shs 10million bail from Luzira Prison where he was sent on remand by the army court.

He is expected, to report at the Court once every two weeks until his application is disposed of.

In the event that High Court rules that Sejusa is still serving member of the UPDF, the case will return to the army court.

In the meantime however, this and several other cases before the Court Martial will be put on hold, pending the appointment of the new head.
