The 64 year old retired politician and UPDF Captain revealed on Friday that she will be available at all times to provide leadership to the new female leaders of the 10th Parliament.

Mukwaya was speaking at the opening of a two-day orientation workshop for the female MPs in Entebbe, running under the theme “Engendering legislative and forging strategy partnership for Gender Equality and women’s empowerment in Uganda”
She told the female legislators that it’s a great opportunity and one of the highest honors that an individual has to serve their country, and urged them to use the opportunity wisely.
At the event, Ms Juliana Naumo Kunihira, the Gender Ministry’s commissioner for culture and family called upon all women in Uganda to unite under one strong voice which will help inspire the next generations.
Women she said should rid the myths that they cannot work together. She urged the MPs to cooperate irrespective of their party affiliations to project the Ugandan women’s voice at the platform.
Kunihira also urged the female MPs to work with civil society as well as the grassroots communities to assess the effectiveness of government programs in terms of service delivery.
One of the planned interventions by the ministry, she said, is implementing an advocacy program to ensure that community members are informed about the initiatives of the ministry and the services it offers so as to ensure improved access by the communities to these services.
