Hoima Woman Poisons Her Own ‘Fatherless’ Newborn

Police in Hoima are holding an 18-year-old woman on accusations of poisoning her newly born baby.

Asiimwe allegedly contacted one George Kingo one of the suspected fathers seeking financial assistance but Kingo was bitter and told her that he was not responsible for her pregnancy.

She contacted another man Gerald Isingoma who also denied paternity of the child.

Police says at this point Asiimwe was confused and decided to give the baby rat poison which killed him instantly. She later buried the baby in a cassava plantation.

Residents who noticed the disappearance of Asiimwe’s baby apprehended her and she confessed to the crime.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying police is to exhume the body and conduct a postmortem.
