Hearing of the Case Against DPC Mwesigye Stalls

Hearing of the matter in which former Old Kampala Police Division Commander Joram Mwesigye is accused of assaulting a WBS TV journalist Andrew Lwanga has flopped this morning before Buganda Road Court due to the absence of the state prosecutor.

Mwesigye was expected to parade more defense witnesses but this wasn’t possible after another state Prosecutor Harriet Nakigozi informed Buganda Road grade one magistrate Joan Aciro that state in charge of this matter Patricia cyngtho has not feeling well.

The magistrate has adjourned the further defense hearing of the matter to th 17th January this year

Prosecution alleges that on 12th January 2015 along Florina Bar and Restaurant on Namirembe road, approved Mwesigye who is now on bail, assaulted Lwanga while covering news of the Unemployed Youth who were heading to Naguru police Headquarters to meet IGP Kale Kayihura, and caused him bodily harm.

It further notes that Mwesigye maliciously damaged the Panasonic video camera of another journalist from Bukedde TV Joseph Settimba plus tearing his khaki trouser.
