Uganda has scooped the top position in medals standing at the 31st WMRA World Mountain Running Championships in the Welsh town of Betws-y-Coe (Conwy – North Wales).
Fred Musobo and Stella Chesang completed a Ugandan double winning the senior men’s and women’s titles. Musobo won the over 13km men’s race with exactly 49 minutes as Italy’s Bernard Dematteis finished second 42 seconds later.
Joshua Mangusho clinched bronze while defending champion Isaac Kiprop finished in a dismal 20th position. Team Uganda settled for a bronze in the race.
In Women’s category, capsule find http://darkon.org/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/multilingual/em-ml-admin.php Stella Chesang clocked 37 minutes and 42 seconds to win the over 8.9 km. Chesang was the junior’s race title holder. Great Britain bagged the team medal and Uganda securing bronze.
Overall Uganda had two golds, http://consultants-lactation.org/wp-includes/registration-functions.php one silver and one bronze to finish top.
This year’s edition also doubled up as the fifth, http://cmareno.com/wp-includes/class-requests.php and penultimate leg of the WMRA World Cup, with the final leg being the 36th Smarna Gora International mountain race in Slovenia on Sunday 3 October.
Next year’s event will take place in Sapareva Banya, Bulgaria on Sunday 4 September.
