A highly trained unit of investigative police operatives have commenced the hunt for assassins who broke into the residence of a Germany national and shot him dead in Buikwe District, Eastern Uganda on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye identified the deceased as Remus Manfred.
He said Remus, a businessman, was attacked at his place of abode at Bwoweri, Njeru Town Council.
“It is alleged the deceased was at his residence where unknown assailants armed with a pistol gained access to his house and demanded money from him which he didn’t have,” said Kasingye.
“The assailants then shot him, robbed him of his phones and escaped to an unknown direction,” Kasingye added.
“He was rushed to Jinja main hospital for treatment where he unfortunately died from.”
Police are yet to arrest any suspects in the murder.
But Kasingye said detectives have visited the scene and opened up investigations into the incident.
The law enforcement body did not divulge more details about the particulars of the deceased.
Cases of shootings are rare in Buikwe.
Officials said they would soon determine whether it was a planned murder or robbery mission gone wrong.
