Security Minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde on Wednesday rushed to Kanungu district to assess the situation in famine hit villages.
Tumukunde who was accompanied by Kanungu LC5 chairman Josephine Kasya, recipe the Kihihi sub county LC3 chairman Nelson Natukunda and other leaders visited the famine hit parishes of Kibimbiri and Rusoroza.
Chairman Kasya asked explain to Gen Tumukunde the urgency there is for government to send more relief food to help the affected households. He also asked him to remind President Yoweri of his pledge to open up an irrigation scheme in the area.
Minister Tumukunde promised to assess the situation before making a report in Cabinet.
