The Inspector General of Police, website like this http://creamiicandy.com/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/wc-conditional-functions.php Gen Kale Kayihura has disbanded the leadership of the heavily fortified and strategic Jinja Road Police Station over terrorism fears and misconduct.
The action taken quietly comes high on the heels of sustained armed raids on police stations across the country.
Highly placed security sources told ChimpReports on Wednesday morning that the District Police Commander, http://dadstreet.com/wp-admin/includes/taxonomy.php Moses Elyegu; O/C Station Shifa Kiribwa and O/C CIID Herbert Akankwasa were instructed to leave Jinja Road Police last Sunday.
It is understood that following a spate of attacks on security facilities by armed militants, police stations were ordered to tighten security.
However, an abrupt security check discovered that only one police officer would be on night duty at the Jinja Road Police Station.
While Elyegu has been put on ‘katebe’ (undeployed), Akankwasa will go for a course after 6 months without deployment.
Neglect of duty
Kiribwa has been transferred to Kiira Division Police Station.
“Those officers neglected their stations when we were facing tough times. A successful attack on Jinja Road Police Station would have led to loss of arms and casualties,” said an insider who preferred anonymity so as to speak freely.
Police publicist Fred Enanga was not readily available for comment.
Sources further said Akankwasa who was the in-charge at Mutungo police before being transferred to Jinja Road had accumulated a lot of wealth in a short time which he could hardly explain or immediately account for.
Militants recently stormed Gulu Police Barracks, killing two security officials. Luwero Police station and Mbuya Barracks have as well been attacked in recent years.
