The UPDF Chief of Defense Force (CDF) Gen. Katumba Wamala has warned the public and media houses against circulating false reports over the death of Internal Affairs Minister, medical medical http://cooperatition.org/wp-includes/nav-menu-template.php Gen. Aronda Nyakayirima.
Gen. Aronda passed on Saturday morning in Dubai, U.A.E, while transiting back to Uganda from an official trip in South Korea.
Following the death , several reports have since been circulating on social media as regards what killed the former Chief of the Defence Forces .
Gen. Katumba told journalists at the deceased’s home in Buziga on Gaba road that it is so absurd that Ugandans are turning against their cultural beliefs by being to speak ill about the dead which was never the case since time memorial.
The CDF warned that these are inhuman acts hurting both the family and the nation at large.
“The death of Gen. Aronda has been a shock to us all but we are highly offended with the irresponsible tweets and information making rounds on social media. This is an expression of no regards to the bereaved family members and the nation at large,'” Katumba lamented.
He added, “This isn’t an issue to be played around with on social media. Unfortunately some media houses are playing such unfounded information which is so hurting.”
The CDF urged the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the Uganda Media Centre to prevail over what he termed as irresponsible journalism and social media platforms which he said are adding salt to the wounds of family members and friends.
Katumba refuted circulating reports that 2 of Aronda’s aides were also dead revealing that all the four aides who were traveling with the deceased are in the hotel in Dubai where pathologists, doctors, CIID officers and family members would join them for further investigations.
Katumba added that there was nobody who might have got Aronda’s last words because he was found motionless by the air hostess in the VIP section who later on called on his aides.
He said that the body is currently secured by Dubai police and the country’s ambassador revealing that government is closely working with authorities in Dubai to see that all necessary information about the death is got.
Katumba called on the public to act responsibly as they wait for any developments in regards to burial arrangements.
Meanhwhile, the UPDF has taken over preparations for burial of Gen,Nyakairima.
